Life has its way of throwing curveballs, and it's completely understandable that it can knock us off balance. I appreciate your honesty and vulnerability in expressing how you've been feeling. The beauty of Santa Barbara and the calming influence of the ocean is enchanting, a testament to the healing power of nature and the small moments that can bring joy and perspective.
Writing a novel is a courageous undertaking, and I'm excited to follow your progress. Its my pleasure to read your work Maria.
This is so lovely - I also find that a trip to the shore lightens anything that's weighing, kind of drifts it gently out to the margins where there's some relief and perspective, and you can carry it more easily after. I found your stack through the Coffee Times chat and look forward to hearing more about your journey! I hope you'll also visit me at Moments - I share photography & stories about my little moments of connection in nature and everyday life :)
Love your connection with the outdoors, especially the ocean. As a career Sailor, the sea has been home for many years and I love its rhythmic beauty. Best of luck on the novel! I find it hard to write one post per week!
I agree with you. Being near the ocean is always good for my soul, too. It's soothing and healing like nothing else. Also - so excited to learn more about your novel-in-progress, when you're ready to share.
Maria, you're a beautiful writer and I can relate to so much of this -- juggling all the things, those morning writing hours slipping through our fingers, and feeling nervous about speaking our dreams out loud. I'm cheering you on with this new novel and all of your other endeavors!
Maria, thank you so much for that lovely shout out 🥰 I appreciate your kind words very much!
I am quite envious of how close to the Pacific Ocean you are and your photo is beautiful. The sea really does provide a sense of grounding. One day I hope we can move to a house near to the sea... 🌊
This one resonated big time - the overwhelm, the moments of awe, the not comparing, the ocean as a salve. I think The Sun was the first journal I ever submitted to (didn't get published). PS - I am so impressed by the clean fingernails in the picture with the butterfly. <3
you know the ocean has always been and remains my church! needed this today; beautifully articulated, maria, as always~
So glad you enjoyed, my friend! Thank you for reading ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much for reading. I find writing a bit like exercise: hard, but I can’t go without and always feel better for having done it!
Yes! It is quite cathartic.

To be published by The Sun! Maybe one day? I think I love that you submitted even more.🥰 As for the clean fingernails: also awe-inspiring!😂
