Oh Maria! I apologize for not reading and commenting sooner. I LOVE all of this - the "secret admirer" aspect, the gorgeous blooms, the shift in mindset. And your writing!! Love this: "It was as if a benevolent flower fairy had infused some magic into my day, sprinkled a little fairy dust in my path." Thank you for allowing us to be on this journey with you!
Thank you so much for reading, Wendy, WHENEVER that is. I am just returning to my writing after several days off with summer stuff — houseguests and kids out of school — and will now be playing catchup. I definitely get it! I am always so grateful for our connection and your support.
Thanks so much, Sarah. It was truly delightful! Yes, regrouping a bit now that school is out here. I agree about taking a break, although I haven't always been the best at slowing down. I'm getting better at it.
I did not see last year’s posting about peonies so this may be old news but when I saw the photo you posted, I immediately thought of something that hadn’t crossed my mind in at least 60 years. Your Grandma Grace loved peonies and grew them by the back porch at 208 every year. Your father and I thought the name was funny and made all sorts of crude little boy jokes that I’ll leave to you to guess since you now have your own crude little boys. Beautiful flowers and warm memories. Thanks.
How lovely! And now your mysterious pick-me-upper has helped make your readers' day, too. :)
>So go ahead, crank that song you love. Go for a walk. Take a break. Call a friend.
Yes, it's so easy to hunker down in the stress and storm of life and start feeling like that's all there is. Thanks for the reminder that even a small step outside the storm can make a world of difference.
"Stress and storm of life." Yes! We each have our own little weather systems, don't we? Thank you so much for reading, Jody, and I'm so glad this little story made you smile like I did.

did you ever find out who it was? Those peonies are ALMOST as gorg as your face. Yay for secret admirers and yay for 45K words! Go M Go!! xox
I did. My beautiful neighbor, Natalie, was my flower fairy. Such a sweetheart. Your cheerleading is the best, Mer. It helps so much!
